Tuesday night this week brought a band of violent storms up through Texas and beyond.  In and around the Dallas area, emergency sirens blared as the weather radar glowed red and purple with hail and high winds.  Ripping through to the north and east, the storm spawned at least one tornado which claimed the lives of 8 people in Oklahoma.

Instead of being in control of the storm, the storm happened to them. Life happens. The job market happens. Recently I took a look at Beyond.com’s Career Trends Analysis Report (4th Q 2008).

It happened on a dark and stormy night… No, wait, that’s not it.

There was pain and agony with joy and hope. Fear and uncertainty with conviction and determination. Yeah, that’s more like it. But what are we talking about? War, marriage, med school? Boot camp, child delivery, remodeling your house? Or maybe US presidential election campaigns?

Internet Jobs is a place that is created for people wanting to know more about what other people do, a community website to discuss career directions and to obtain ideas on the various job opportunities out there, to give you insight on companies that others work for, on jobs you or may not have thought about doing, and what lies ahead for you going on real life experiences from others you’ll be able to connect with.

Internet Jobs is not about your typical work from home opportunities, it’s about actual careers related to the Internet and this varies from Web Designer to IT Consultant to Application Developer and everything in between or around as there are so many different job areas that makes people experience the Internet to what it is today.

As a professional writer, I can be pretty particular about word choices and their meanings. And, as an IT consultant, I am pretty conscious of staffing models. So, when the word “outsource” is used, the proper definition would mean simply farming the job out to an outside provider. However, the word has been abused and misused to mean “offshoring” all too often. Actually, offshoring in the US means exactly what it sounds like: receiving or implementing a solution from beyond our borders. Easy.
