Wednesday Feels Like Monday

It is not uncommon to experience an emotional feeling of let down or depression immediately following the conclusion of a time of intense focus and vigor.  It happens to everyone.  And between just you and me… shhhh…  I am going through something sort of like that today.

But, working and job hunting cannot be done based upon how one feels if it is to done successfully.  So strengthen your knees and forge ahead.

This morning I returned to present a proposal to a prospect to develop a website for their financial services company and then maintain it in exchange for a percentage of revenues brought in through the site.  My proposal was designed for a win-win situation, and I did not lowball on the price fearing that a competing bidder might come in underneath me.  In fact, I fully expect that someone might come in a few thousand dollars lower.  However, I priced it so that I could pour my heart and soul into the work, the content, the research, the representation, the SEO and SEM, and into making them money and making me money.  So, it is now up to them and out of my hands.  Regardless, job hunting continues!

Missel called and asked me for a list of references for her to check as part of her presenting me to Pepsico for a PM position.  But before I could get to it, Kerry called and told me that Pepsico had decided to pursue a different candidate instead of me.  Such is the life of a job hunter.

Kamal called me and said he has an ecommerce gig for me in Chicago.  I told him I am expecting a thing or two to close this week that might mean offers to me for work that is local.  We agreed to connect on Friday.

Sandra says she has her fingers and her toes crossed that she’ll get confirmation of approval for an ecommerce position that I would fill for 4 months working from home with a couple of trips to Canada.  It is the end of the business day and still no word.  Sigh.

Alert!  I interrupt this article by accepting a phone call from Sandra.  She is updating me that the integrator engagement manager to the client software company has obtained the needed approval in nature, but not yet in writing.  She has conveyed that I need resolution by noon on Friday.  I appreciate her advocacy on this.  However, if it came down to 1pm when the offer came in, I would not reject it unless I had already accepted another offer first.

As you will soon see from my writings, job hunting is not just an activity, but rather it is a lifestyle for the Internet Jobs professional.
